Martha's ignorance convinces her she is some kind of freak, while Theo's worldliness means he tends to live down to people's expectations of him.Grant's decision to make the seduction not about one trying to get the other into bed, but one trying to get the other to enjoy it, gives it a nuance and originality that makes Martha's gradual unbending much more erotic than the usual attempt to get someone into bed.My only issue with this book was the end, which seemed a little too neat and a little too rushed. Both hero and heroine underestimate their own potential. The characters are incredibly well formed, their actions informed by their personalities, their histories, and their goals. The most erotic book I've ever read about the enclosure act and dairy farming in Georgian England. There was a lot I loved about this book.
